Do more than just float by

Take your education to the rivers and open water of the Southwest. Our River and Water-Based Program offers surfing, canoeing, kayaking, and rafting trips that last three to eight days, with opportunities to see:

  • spectacular scenery and impressive ecosystems
  • whitewater rapids and pristine beach camps
  • timeless rock formations and the power of natural forces
  • ancient human history, including dwellings, artifacts, and petroglyphs
  • nature, undisturbed, with unique opportunities for wildlife viewing and relaxation

Our instructors and guides emphasize safe boating techniques and practices to minimize environmental impact. You will see the river or lake as more than a backdrop—it will become like home.

Program areas include:

  • the Colorado, Salt, San Juan, and Verde Rivers
  • Lake Powell and Lake Mead
  • local lakes of northern Arizona
  •  the Pacific Ocean
  • the Wall Aquatic Center

Program formats

Whether your group is fundraising, teambuilding, offering coursework, or just seeking adventure and relaxation, we can tailor your water-based trip to your specifications.

You may request your group’s trip dates in advance, select the length of the trip, and choose the number of participants. You may also indicate preferences, such as:

  • the use of inflatable kayaks or other watercraft
  • day hikes to archeological and historical sites
  • campsites
  • trip focus or theme

Teambuilding retreats

Trained facilitators join your water-based guides for a unique teambuilding retreat, which uses adventure-based activities  to build communication, conflict resolution, and teamwork within your organization. Activities include:

  • trust sequences
  • conflict resolution techniques
  • problem solving activities
  • communication exercises
  • an individual sense of purpose within the group

Before your trip, you will meet with our team-building specialists to identify your group’s desired goals and strategies.
