The Challenge Course is a series of adventure-based learning activities designed to facilitate a unique Community building experience. Students will learn how to facilitate team building activities and high element challenges, monitor safety, conduct debriefs, understand hardware, and set-up/take-down the challenge course. ACCT based Level One Certification through Adventure Experiences Inc. is offered upon successful completion of the course. This is a two-weekend or five-day, 40-hour class that will teach the methods, practices, and philosophies of the Challenge Course.

Professional Debriefing for the Outdoor Leader

Course participants will leave this course with a facilitators "toolbox" of several active debriefing techniques and activities useful in any group leadership or experiential education setting. Sessions will be hands on and participants will gain experience peer leading debriefing activities. This course utilizes the text A Teachable Moment; A Facilitator's Guide to Activities for Processing, Debriefing, Reviewing and Reflecting by J. Cain, M. Cummings & J. Stanchfield 

Experiential Education for the Classroom

This course will focus on applying the experiential education concepts, methodology, and theory used in the Challenge Course to the traditional classroom model.

During the training, you will:

  • experience what it is like to be a participant on a Challenge Course
  • learn how to lead Challenge Course activities that can also be used in the classroom
  • understand the "challenge model," the "challenge educator," and the "challenge student"
  • discover how to incorporate experiential learning into lessons

Adventure-Based Activities for Team building

This workshop presents a variety of low-prop, versatile adventure-based team-building games and activities. You can use these games and activities to enhance the understanding of concepts like:

  • team-building
  • community
  • leadership
  • problem-solving
  • communication
  • trust and support
  • success and failure
  • competition and cooperation
  • goal setting

These games and activities can be presented in:

  • classrooms
  • playgrounds
  • conference rooms
  • youth meetings
  • group sessions
  • outdoor adventure settings
