Learn to lead adventure-based activities for team building

This workshop presents a variety of low-prop, versatile adventure-based team-building games and activities. You can use these games and activities to promote team building amongst your team, organization, classroom or group. You will leave this workshop having practiced a few ice breaker and team building activities and each participant will receive an activity guide.

Rappelling Workshop

Try your hand at rappelling 45 feet off the NAU Challenge Course Tower. During this three hour workshop you will learn how to use the gear and ropes associated with rappelling. Each participant will have at least two opportunities to rappel of the tower using the figure eight and tube style devices.

Leadership Charactoristics Workshop

This workshop presents a few interactive activities used to prompt discussions on leadership types, styles and situations. Participants will leave the workshop reflection on the characteristics and abilities they find valuable in leaders.

Professional Debrief for the Outdoor Leader

April 2-25
(Tuesdays and Thursdays 6-8 p.m.)

Course participants will leave this course with a facilitators "toolbox" of several active debriefing techniques and activities useful in any group leadership or experiential education setting. Sessions will be hands on and participants will gain experience peer leading debriefing activities. This course utilizes the text A Teachable Moment; A Facilitator's Guide to Activities for Processing, Debriefing, Reviewing and Reflecting by J. Cain, M. Cummings & J. Stanchfield.

Challenge Course Facilitator Training

April 5-7 and April 12-14
(Sessions 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.)

The Challenge Course is a series of adventure-based learning activities designed to facilitate a unique Community building experience. Students will learn how to facilitate teambuilding activities and high element challenges, monitor safety, conduct debriefs, understand hardware, and set-up/take-down the challenge course. ACCT based Level One Certification through Adventure Experiences Inc. is offered upon successful completion of the course. The first weekend will focus on Low Course Facilitation the second on High Course Facilitation.

The Challenge Course is located on Pine Knoll Drive between South Family Housing and the South Fields Complex.  Please follow all NAU parking guidelines.
