Get started with any Welcome Week event listed below or at the Freshman Fusion Expo on Monday, August 26th. Bring your family to participate in the Freshman Fusion Family Weekend events in late September. Participate in any event this month and receive a Freshman Fusion T-Shirt.

Saturday, August 24

6pm                 20-20-20

Three workouts in one! The 20-20-20 class is designed to give you the ultimate challenge and total body workout. Sweat through 20 minutes of arms, 20 minutes of legs, and 20 minutes of abs and core work. Are you ready for the challenge?

Sunday, August 25

6pm                 Cycle

Join us for a cardiovascular journey! This class will challenge you in ways you didn’t think possible with sprints, climbs, and jumps. This intense workout is designed to increase your cardiovascular endurance with high energy music and exhilarating rides! Participants will remain on the bike throughout this workout. Due to equipment limitations, this class is limited to 30 participants, first come first serve.

7pm                 Sunset Salutations

A challenging mind and body adventure incorporating asanas, breathing and mindfulness for a complete yoga experience. Sculpt a leaner, stronger body while releasing stress and fatigue. Flow from one energizing asana to another while linking each movement with your breath. Open your heart, shoulders, hips, back while strengthening and toning your core, arms and legs.

11am               The Letters, Zumba Party & Freshman Fusion/Sport Club Expo

Sport Club Expo & Freshman Fusion Expo   (11:00am-12:00pm)     Sponsored by: NAU Recreation Center
Learn how to get involved with Freshman Fusion: the Health and Fitness program that gets you started on the right foot in college, and earn great prizes along the way! Also, find out how to join one of over 40 Sport Clubs like Soccer, Lacrosse, Dance, and Quidditch. The expo will take place on the South Fields, at 11:00am. See you there!

Play a part in the monumental annual freshman photo event! Each freshman student who attends will receive a free True Blue NAU shirt to wear in the photo or come already geared up in your blue and gold. Arrive as early as 11am to get your shirt, check out the Sport Club Expo and Freshman Fusion Expo. Also, plan to be a part of the record setting Zumba Party at noon. We will start placing people for the photo at 12:15pm and the photo will be taken at 12:30pm.

5pm                 All Levels Yoga

Through this class, gain experiential knowledge while you are taught the foundations of yoga. Learn how to focus on technique and alignment of each posture and open up your body for breathing, flexibility, and strength training. The workout helps reduce your stress and improves your physical and mental balance. Each yoga workout can be easily modified to accommodate all experience levels. Please bring your own yoga mat to each class. The front desk has limited supply so please plan accordingly.

5:15pm            HIIT

HIIT is an enhanced form of interval training, an exercise strategy of alternating periods of short intense anaerobic exercise with less-intense recovery periods. HIIT is a form of cardiovascular exercise with short, intense workouts.  You’ll experience a multitude of benefits some of which include:  improved athletic capacity and condition, improved glucose metabolism, and fat burning.

6pm     Hardcore Abs

Tired of endless crunches?  Train your core from the inside out using stability balls, medicine balls, and your own body weight.  You’ll experience a 30-minute total front and back abdominal workout which will help you achieve your core strengthening goals.

5pm                 Pilates

A class that works your entire body without even knowing it!  Pilates workouts consist of a compilation muscular endurance, conditioning, yoga, sports and dance exercises. The class will challenge core and peripheral strength while working on posture, coordination, balance, and flexibility.

5:15pm            Step & Sculpt

This class takes the traditional step moves and transforms them into creative step combinations by simply adding the elements of rhythm, direction and style! Class wouldn’t be complete without integrating the cardiovascular workout with great toning and muscular strengthening exercises. This class brings the "fun factor" back into a workout!

7pm                 Cardio Kickboxing

This incredible cardio workout is full of exhilarating kick and punch combinations that will keep your heart rate up and deliver great results. The class also incorporates cardio and weight bearing intervals that will make your body burn!

Wednesday, September 4

4-6pm              Health-a-palooza
Discover the Seven Wonders of the Health and Learning Center as you embark on your collegiate journey by exploring an explosive, high-energy Health-a-palooza style Expo!  This is the perfect opportunity to check out a variety of programs and services offered in the HLC.  Enter a raffle for prizes, learn the hottest workouts at the Fitness performance stage, meet the “dogtors” of Counseling Services, sign-up for tours of the facilities, and challenge your skills during the Red Cup Check Up.  Additional opportunities include gaining baseline knowledge of your blood pressure and BMI and relax with NAU’s Stressbusters back rubs.  Don’t miss out on NAU’s health, fitness, and wellness wonders!

Sheldon and Charlie are inviting you to a cardiovascular journey! Enjoy the humor of your favorite show while challenging yourself with sprints, climbs, and jumps. Peddle to The Big Bang Theory (6-6:30p) or Always Sunny in Philadelphia (6:30-7p) - or stick around for both shows! This intense workout is designed to increase your cardiovascular endurance with high energy while accompanying you with your comedy favorites! Participants will remain on the bike throughout the show. Due to equipment limitations, this class is limited to 30 participants, first come first serve.

NAU Stressbusters busts stress by providing free backrubs and are an excellent wellness resource for you!  Stop by anytime between 7-8pm for your free backrub.

Saturday, September 28th

8am                 Family Weekend 5k Run/2mi Walk
Get your family up here for Family Weekend and take part in the tradition of the 5k Partner Run or 2mi Walk. The Partner Run puts family members together, and their combined time will be their finish place. (ex: Father/Daughter, Mother/Son, etc)  The race is free! Register online by September 27th.
Location:  Race will start inside Lumberjack Stadium (next to the Health and Learning Center)
