12th Biennial Conference of Science and Management on the Colorado Plateau
September 16-19, 2013, Northern Arizona University
you for joining us for the 12th Biennial Conference of Science and Management on the Colorado Plateau!
The conference was very successful, attracting more
than 410 scientists, land managers, and students from as far away as
Alaska and Washington, DC. We
believe the conference’s success is attributable to the breadth and
quality of the science presented as well as the diversity of partners
who sponsored the conference. Our sincere thanks go to
those of you who organized the many outstanding special and general
sessions as well as to those of you who contributed papers and posters.
We’d also like to thank the following organizations for their financial
and in-kind support: U.S. Geological Survey;
U.S. Forest Service Rocky Mountain Research Station; Bureau of Land
Management; National Park Service; Grand Canyon Trust; The Arboretum at
Flagstaff; and Northern Arizona University. The support from the
university was wide spread and included the following
entities: Office of the Provost, Office of the Vice President of
Research, School of Forestry, School of Earth Science and Environmental
Sustainability, Landscape Conservation Initiative, Colorado Plateau
Research Station, Colorado Plateau Cooperative Ecosystem
Studies Unit, and Merriam-Powell Center for Environmental Research.
Interested conference participants are invited to publish the
research they presented in the conference’s proceedings. Submitted
papers will be refereed and peer reviewed. The U.S. Geological Survey
will publish the proceedings electronically. The previous
10 volumes of the biennial conference proceedings have gained
international recognition, being reviewed and summarized in journals
such as Conservation Biology, Ecology, and The Southwestern Naturalist.
Many of the proceedings chapters are frequently cited
by fellow professionals and documented by the Science Citation Index.
Look forward to seeing you in 2015!
