Adding Content to your Web Page

Types of “Page Content”:

To view the various types of page content that can be added to your webpage, check out the Example: Page Standard on our online manual.

Layout Editor: This is the standard Content Type for plain text on a page. Primary text on a page will typically be contained here.

Resource: This is used to insert content that is hosted elsewhere inside the CMS: i.e. a video, an HTML form or an .mp3 file. 

Column Layout: This is used to create columns within a page.

Block Quote: This text will appear separated from the rest of a paragraph by thin lines before and after it. Block Quotes are used to emphasize a specific section of the text.

Hide/Show List: This is used to show information by expanding hidden content, displaying additional information when the “shown text” is clicked.

How to add "Page Content" modules

  1. Navigate to your page and edit it.
  2. Select the blue notepad icon to the left of the “Page Content” section. notepad icon 
  3. Choose either to “Insert Above” or “Insert Below”, depending on where you would like the new content.

How to change the "Page Content" type

  1. Select the desired "Page Content" type in the Content Type drop-down box.

Layout Editor

The "Layout Editor" is used to input text.

  1. Select "Layout Editor" in the "Content type" drop-down box.
  2. To edit, click into the Page Content Section and input text and/or make your desired changes. Use the toolbar to format text.
  3. To change the style of your text, highlight it and select the style you want to use from the drop-down box in the toolbar.

Resource

"Resources" refer to videos, HTML forms and .mp3 files that can be placed on a page from the CMS.
Inserting a resource from within the CMS
  1. Select “Resources” in the “Content Type” drop-down box.

  3. Click the “+ Resource” button, then click again on the folder icon.

  5. Navigate through the CMS folder structure to find the page containing your “Resource” and select “OK”.
  6. Your “Resource” should now appear on the page after publishing.
Inserting a video resource (Hosted on YouTube or Extended Campuses)
  1. Select “Content” tab.

  3. Navigate to the appropriate working folder.

  5. Click on “New”, then select “Smart Form” and choose “Video” from the options.

  7. You will see the screen below:

  9. Enter a title for your video in the “Title” field.
  10. Your video must be hosted on YouTube or Extended Campuses.
  11. Publish your page by clicking the “Publish” icon. publish 
  12. Open the “Content Editor” of the page on which you would like your video to appear. Select the blue notepad icon to the left of the “Page Content” section. notepad icon 
  13. Choose either to “Insert Above” or “Insert Below”, depending on where you would like the video “Resource” to appear.

  15. Select “Resources” in the “Content Type” drop-down box.

  17. Click the “+ Resource” button, then click again on the folder icon.

  19. Navigate through the CMS folder structure to find your video Smart Form and select “OK”.
  20. Your video should now appear on the page after publishing.

Column Layout

  1. Select “Column Layout” in the Content Type drop-down box.

  3. Select the number of columns you would like to have displayed.
    • Note: This number determines how many columns of text/image modules will be displayed side-by-side across the page. Additional rows are added by inserting a new “Page Content” module.
    • Note: The 2-Column option is a bit of a misnomer.  It will actually create one column of modules.

  4. Insert a heading, the title of the module.
  5. Insert an image to be displayed in the module by clicking the image icon (mountains).  If you need a text-only module, click the box to do so.

  7. Insert the text you would like to be displayed below the image in the “Text” box.

Block Quote

  1. Select “Block Quote” in the “Content Type” drop-down box.

  3. Insert the text you would like to be displayed as a “Block Quote”.

Hide/Show List

  1. Select “Hide/Show List” in the Content Type drop-down box.

  3. Insert the text you would like to be displayed in the “Shown Text” box (i.e. “Read more”).

  5. Input the hidden text into the “Hidden Text” box. Edit the text if appropriate. This text will only be displayed when a “Read more” is clicked on the page.
