Adding Content to your Web Page
Types of “Page Content”:
Layout Editor: This is the standard Content Type for plain text on a page. Primary text on a page will typically be contained here.
Resource: This is used to insert content that is hosted elsewhere inside the CMS: i.e. a video or an HTML form.
Column Layout: This is used to create columns within a page.
Block Quote: This text will appear separated from the rest of a paragraph by thin lines before and after it. Block Quotes are used to emphasize a specific section of the text.
Hide/Show List: This is used to show information by expanding hidden content, displaying additional information when the “shown text” is clicked.
- In the “Content Editor” of your selected page, select the blue notepad icon to the left of the “Page Content” section.
- Choose either to “Insert Above” or “Insert Below”, depending on where you would like the new content.
- Select the desired "Page Content" type in the Content Type drop-down box.
The "Layout Editor" is used to input text.
- To edit, click into the Page Content Section and input text and/or make your desired changes. Use the toolbar to format text.
- To change the style of your text, highlight it and select the style you want to use from the drop-down box in the toolbar.
See
Editing Text for guidance on how to add and format text.
"Resources" refer to videos and HTML forms that can be placed on a page from the CMS.Inserting a resource from within the CMS
- Select “Resources” in the “Content Type” drop-down box.
- Click the “+ Resource” button, then click again on the folder icon.

Inserting a video resource (Hosted on YouTube or Extended Campuses)

- Navigate to the appropriate working folder.
- Click on “New”, then select “Smart Form” and choose “Video” from the options.
- You will see the screen below:
- Enter a title for your video in the “Title” field.
- Your video must be hosted on YouTube or Extended Campuses.
- Publish your page by clicking the “Publish” icon.
- Open the “Content Editor” of the page on which you would like your video to appear. Select the blue notepad icon to the left of the “Page Content” section.
- Choose either to “Insert Above” or “Insert Below”, depending on where you would like the video “Resource” to appear.

- Select “Column Layout” in the Content Type drop-down box.

- Note: This number determines how many columns of text/image modules will be displayed side-by-side across the page. Additional rows are added by inserting a new “Page Content” module.
- Note: The 2-Column option is a bit of a misnomer. It will actually create one column of modules.
- Insert a heading, the title of the module.
- Insert an image to be displayed in the module by clicking the image icon (mountains). If you need a text-only module, click the box to do so.
- Insert the text you would like to be displayed below the image in the “Text” box.
- Select “Block Quote” in the “Content Type” drop-down box.
- Insert the text you would like to be displayed as a “Block Quote”.
- Select “Hide/Show List” in the Content Type drop-down box.
- Insert the text you would like to be displayed in the “Shown Text” box (i.e. “Read more”).
- Input the hidden text into the “Hidden Text” box. This text will only be displayed when a “Read more” is clicked on the page.
