Restricted Email Attachment Delivery Service (READS)

Available To: Faculty, Staff, Students

Information Technology Services has implemented a new virus filter in our ongoing effort to stop virus attacks before they cause network problems.

Email messages containing attachments of the following ten types deemed most likely to contain viruses will be quarantined. This applies to both incoming and outgoing mail.

  • .com
  • .bat
  • .cpl
  • .scr
  • .rar
  • .pif
  • .cmd
  • .hta
  • .exe
  • .zip

When an attachment is filtered, it is replaced with an attachment called "NAU_Replaced_attachment.htm." The attached message will give instuctions on how to retrieve the quarantinted attachment.

Please keep in mind that even with this new safeguard in place, ITS recommends not clicking on any attachments unless you know for certain that they're legitimate attachments from people you know.
