Pay Options for Employees Who Work Less than 12 Months

It is that time of the year when eligible faculty and exempt staff who work less than 12 months can elect to be paid over a 12 month period or change their 12 month pay option back to being paid over their contract period. To be eligible for this choice, the employee must meet the following criteria:

  • Be employed in a benefit-eligible position
  • Be FLSA exempt
  • Have a regular work period that is less than the fiscal year; and
  • Be employed with NAU for the current spring semester

Employees who wish to change their payment option are required to sign a binding agreement that cannot be changed mid-year. The 12-Month Pay Election form can be found on the NAU Forms Index Page.

This agreement must be completed, signed and returned to the Human Resources (NAU Box 4113) on or before June 1, 2017. New payment schedules become effective with the beginning of the new fiscal year, July 1, 2017. If making this election, the first paycheck will be on Friday, July 21st
