Arizona State Retirement Participation Required for Some Non Benefit Eligible Employees

Arizona law requires that benefit eligible employees and some non-benefit eligible employees who work 20 hours or more for 20 or more weeks in a fiscal year participate in a primary retirement & associated LTD plan.

Employees (except student workers) who are not already employed in a benefit eligible position but work 20 hours or more per week for 20 weeks or more during the fiscal year, and who have been employed at NAU for at least six months will be enrolled in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) and contributions will be deducted from their pay for the remainder of the fiscal year. Participation in the Plan requires employees to contribute 11.54% of their wages for the current fiscal year, but 11.60% for 2015 fiscal year and requires NAU to match that contribution.  Affected employees will receive an e-mail notification with process instructions at the time of their enrollment.
