Mission and Purpose

Mission

Our mission is to promote and advance, through continued relationship building in the community and all levels of government, the strategic initiatives and goals of Northern Arizona University, and to serve as the university's central source of contact with public policy makers, government officials, and community leaders.

State and Local Relations

Located in downtown Phoenix, the Office of Government Affairs is responsible for day-to-day communication with the Arizona State Legislature, the Office of the Governor, and local and city governments. We communicate NAU’s priorities to elected officials and their staffs and ensure that the president of the university is apprised of all key legislative developments.

Strong state legislative relations are critical in helping NAU provide the best education possible to its students.

Federal Relations

Government Affairs staff coordinates university engagement with the United States Congress, the White House, and federal agencies and helps faculty and campus leaders identify opportunities for research support and ways to contribute to national policy.

Business Partnerships

NAU’s success is connected to the success of the broader business community. Our office works to connect the university’s academic expertise with Arizona’s business community to help promote common goals.
