NAU’s Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid is here to partner with you in helping your student achieve their greatest ambitions. We’ve got plenty of resources and step-by-steps instructions for parents of dependent students.

FAFSA

The first and most important step in the financial aid process is filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year. Both dependent students and their parents will contribute to the filing of the FAFSA each year. Federal Student Aid offers a comprehensive guide.

Loans

There are many types of loans to help pay for your student’s education, including loans specifically designed for parents. Learn more about Parent Loans for Undergraduate Students (PLUS loans), as well as loans available to students.

Financial aid award offer

Incoming students will receive an award offer outlining important things such as what types and amounts of financial aid they might be eligible for. Keep an eye out in the mail, and check out the “Understanding your award offer” section of incoming student when you receive it.

The Lumberjack Family Hub

The Lumberjack Family Hub is for parents and families of prospective and current Northern Arizona University students. In addition to important financial aid information and deadlines, the hub provides information about events on campus, important resources, tips for supporting your student, and much more.
