Getting a job as an NAU student

Find a job that suits you on or off campus

When you’re prepared and ready for it, a part-time job and/or Federal Work-Study position is a great way to gain experience and help pay for college. We encourage you to look for jobs that you’ll find engaging and that will provide you with relevant experience for the career path you’d like to pursue.

Handshake

By far the best way to look for a student job is to search and become active on Handshake. The best part is, when you become an NAU student, you automatically have an account in Handshake.

Simply log in using the same username and password as your LOUIE account, update your profile, and begin searching for jobs that interest you.

Work studies and community partners

Federal Work-Study (FWS) provides funds for part-time employment for students with financial need to help them pay for college.

You can learn more about FWS, including how to find out if you’re eligible for it, through the frequently asked questions.

Employers highly value FWS students, and it’s a great way to control the number of hours you work to balance your job with your education. It’s strongly recommended to accept your FWS and pursue these positions if you’re eligible.

NAU Career Development

One of the best things you can do while pursuing a part-time job is to connect with NAU’s Career Development office. They’ll help you search for a job, create or update your résumé, practice interviewing, and help you figure out the next steps as you go.
