Veteran Education Benefits

Northern Arizona University once again ranks as the top school for military veterans in Arizona and the top third of colleges and universities nationally. The number of NAU students receiving Veteran Education Benefits increases each year - we are dedicated to serving our students quickly and efficiently. Contact us today for more information.

Steps to Get Started

1. New and Transferring Students: Log in to the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs On-Line Application (VONAPP) to complete the required application process.

2. Allow four to six weeks for Certificate of Eligibility (COE). Send us a copy via email once you receive it: VAEdBenefits@nau.edu or fax 928-523-1551.

3. Certify your classes every term - as soon as you enroll.

Tuition Deferment

Chapter 33 benefits will automatically defer tuition after we fully process your class certification. Certify as soon as possible.

You may self-enroll in the free NAU Veterans Tuition Payment Plan if you’re using any other benefit besides Chapter 33.

W.A.V.E. PROGRAM

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs requires veterans receiving Montgomery GI Bill® benefits (Chapters 1606, 1607, or 30) to verify attendance each month in order to receive timely benefit payments.

  • Interactive Voice Response (IVR) via 1-877-823-2378

Verify your enrollment on the last calendar day each month. Processing takes two to three business days.
