Our students aren’t working a typical office job – unless
you count holiday parties, mentoring NAU students, Instagramming career fairs,
or creating career board games as typical. Here’s more on what the CareerJacks
do here at NAU Career Development at University College and what skills they’re
gaining for their own careers: Senior, Speech Language Pathology MajorWhat advice do you have for your fellow NAU students?
"One thing I would recommend to NAU students is to always use the resources around you, be sure to talk to your professors and build a professional relationship. Even though our professors have Masters and PhD degrees, it doesn’t mean they are unapproachable. Your teachers are a wealth of knowledge that goes beyond the 4-5 hours a week of class you spend with them. If you have questions about graduate school, the work force for your field, or their years as an undergraduate ask them! Trying to figure out your future can be daunting, from my experiences I’ve found my professors to be a great networks for graduate schools and research opportunities."What are some of your favorite hobbies?
"One of my favorite hobbies is has always been relaxing by drawing, and making pottery. It’s relaxing to take a break from classes for a few hours, as a change of pace. I also enjoy hand making pillows, it’s a great way for me make a functional piece that is still a challenge for me."
