Lumberjack dreams fulfilled by LAA
Zach Bauman, star running back on the NAU football team, is currently enjoying the type of season most student-athletes dream of. He has already broken the all-time NAU rushing record, is currently on the watch list for the Walter Payton award—one of the highest honors that can be bestowed on a collegiate football player—and continues to make an impact through his talent and leadership.
Success, on and off the field
For Zach, it wasn't enough to just play football at the university level—ever since he was young, his family instilled within him the value of attaining a university education. At NAU, he would be doing both. "In the classroom and in football, I’m working to prove myself," Zach says. "I know an education means so much to my parents."
Zach needed assistance to help him afford the time and effort necessary to focus on his athletic and academic endeavors. Enter the support of the Lumberjack Athletic Association (LAA).
The LAA is a community of donors which collectively supports the students who are a part of Northern Arizona University’s athletic programs. Thanks to his scholarship, Zach Bauman has been granted the time and support he needs to concentrate on what matters. "Having an athletic scholarship from NAU gives me the time I need to focus on my schoolwork," Zach says. "I can devote one hundred percent of myself to my classes and to athletics."
Academic and athletic excellence
NAU is committed to providing student-athletes like Zach Bauman an exceptional undergraduate experience, culminating in graduation. The Campaign for NAU is focused on funding programs that will continue to help student-athletes maintain their high level of academic performance, and foster a culture of athletic and academic excellence at the university. Your gift will always be the difference that matters for the students it supports.
