Early Childhood Education, Undergraduate Certificate

All teachers serving children birth through kindergarten must hold an early childhood education certificate which leads to an early childhood state endorsement—and you can get yours at Northern Arizona University.

The Early Childhood Certificate (which leads to endorsement) can only be applied to a BSED in Elementary Education degree.

This certificate can be used as a content concentration or be applied toward a state endorsement. If you are:

  • majoring in elementary education, you can count this 22-credit-hour certificate as your content concentration toward your degree requirements
  • an in-service teacher with a degree in elementary education who wishes to become certified in early childhood preschool through third grade, the course work in this certificate can be used to gain endorsement through the Arizona Department of Education
