The Department of Teaching and Learning at Northern Arizona University provides education programs to prepare pre-service teachers and support in-service teachers to be competent and committed professionals who will make positive differences in the lives of children and young adults.
Financial assistance
Every spring the Teaching and Learning department has a limited number of graduate assistantships and tuition waivers available for qualifying students. The graduate assistantship/tuition waiver application due date is March 15. Check the financial aid page for more information.

Mother, teacher, non-traditional student finds passion in special education
Lorie Lee never imagined she’d make it to university; she is now graduating with two degrees, having won the prestigious President’s Prize. A mother of three and non-traditional student, her inspiring tale begins earlier than her first day at NAU. As a child, Lee experienced poverty, a mother with substance abuse issues and a father unwilling to care for her.
