Scholarships for either Undergraduate or Graduate Students

1. Cheryl Ann Babb Memorial Scholarship Fund
  1. Attending the Flagstaff main campus.
  2. Declared intent to become an education degree major.
  3. Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
  4. Show a record of extra-curricular involvement or community service.
  5. First preference will go to a member of the NAU football team, if no football team member is eligible, another NAU athletics member will receive preference.
2. Leo and Leona Benoit Memorial (COE) Elementary Education Scholarship
  1. Enrolled in Elementary education.
  2. Achieve and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or above.
3. Thomas Gerald and Maxine Blackman Chilton Scholarship
  1. Declared interest in becoming a business teacher.
  2. Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
  3. Preference given to students demonstrating financial need as determined by submission of financial need statement from student.
4. Susan N. Coleman Scholarship
  1. Enrolled in the College of Education at NAU as an undergraduate or graduate student.
  2. Majoring in Special Education.
  3. Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  4. Demonstrates financial need.
  5. Demonstrates excellence in leadership in extracurricular activities.
5. Remembering Maggie Conway Memorial Scholarship
  1. Must be a full-time student in the College of Education attending the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus.
  2. Must prove financial need.
  3. Preference given to single female student.
  4. Would prefer but is not necessary for the student to be a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority.
6. Manuel and Annie DiMiguel Scholarship
  1. Graduate from a Flagstaff District high school.
  2. Education major.
  3. Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  4. Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above.
  5. Financial need is NOT a consideration.
7. Virgil and Clarine Gillenwater Scholarship Fund
  1. Must be an Arizona resident.
  2. Enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student in the COE at NAU mountain campus.
  3. Earned a class standing of junior, senior or graduate level student.
  4. Demonstrated financial need.
  5. Rotate the scholarship through one of the 4 departments within the COE each year; first year scholarship award will be from the Department of Teaching and Learning, the second year will be from the Department of Educational Specialties, the third year will be from the Department of Educational Psychology and the fourth year will be from the Department of Educational Leadership. The latter two programs are for graduate level students only.
  6. Award to one student each year.
8. Hengl Family Scholarship
  1. A student from Yuma County, Arizona.
  2. Preference will be given to those who are continuing education majors.
  3. Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above.
  4. Active in school extracurricular activities or community service.
9. Helen Copeland Householder Scholarship
  1. Financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid.
  2. Academic achievement - maintain a GPA of 3.0.
  3. If entering NAU from High School, must be in the top 20% of their graduating class.
  4. Education major.
10. Caroline Hughes Scholarship
  1. Enrolled in Early childhood education or Elementary education program.
  2. Must have 3.5 grade point average (GPA) or higher.
  3. Scholarship is renewable if other criteria continue to be met.
11. Drs. Daniel J. and Jane A. Pierce Julian Scholarship
  1. Enrolled as an education major at NAU.
  2. Achieve and maintain a GPA of 2.8 or above.
  3. Preference will be given to graduates of a Flagstaff public high school.
12. Johnson Family Scholarship
  1. Enrolled in the COE in Education Rural American Indian Special Education Project (RAISE) or a similar project on a reservation.
  2. Are entering their student teaching semester.
  3. Demonstrate a commitment to teach on a reservation school in Arizona once they have earned their degree.
  4. Hold a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
  5. Preference given to students who are members of a Native American Nation.
13. May Hazelwood LaRue Scholarship
  1. Undergraduate scholarship or graduate fellowship.
  2. Academic achievement or potential.
  3. Preference given to students with financial need.
  4. Preference given to residents of the State of Arizona.
  5. Preference given to Elementary Education major.
14. Sandra Leigh Scholarship
  1. Must have completed at least 30 credit hours.
  2. Eligible for admission to the Teacher education program.
  3. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
  4. Enrolled as a full-time student (12 or more credit hours undergraduate, 9 credit hours graduate).
  5. Must have financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office.
  6. Must be US citizen.
  7. Applicants who meet the above criteria and are single parents or returning to complete their education after a period of ten years or more will be given preference for this scholarship award.
  8. Award may be renewed annually for the same student if criteria continue to be met and the selection committee determine this to be appropriate.
15. Edward A. and Priscilla G. Loy Education Scholarship
  1. Student majoring in education
  2. Financial need may be, but is not required, to be considered
  3. Student may apply for continuation of this scholarship as long as they continue to meet the eligibility award criteria
  4. Preference given to a Teaching & Learning or Educational Specialties student
16. Lubben Family Scholarship for Education
  1. Student in College of Education at NAU.
  2. Priority given to students who agree to conduct their student teaching experience at reservation sites or in schools with significant Native American enrollments.
17. Tony O. Martin Scholarship
  1. Minimum GPA of 3.0 or above.
  2. Arizona high school graduate.
  3. Admitted into Teacher Education Program.
  4. Academic and all around student.
  5. Immediate family members may participate in the selection.
18. Ida Bell McGill Memorial Scholarship
  1. Permanent residents of the State of Arizona.
  2. Junior, senior, or graduate standing majoring in Educational Psychology.
  3. Meritorious student.
19. Arthur Mercer Memorial Scholarship
  1. Majoring in Elementary Education.
  2. Admitted into Teacher Education Program.
20. Peterson and Miller Special Education Scholarship
  1. Accepted into the teacher education program
  2. Majoring in special education.
  3. Minimum GPA of 3.0 or above.
  4. Preference given to student with financial need as determined through the Financial Aid Office.
  5. Preference given to minority students.
21. Peck Family Scholarship in Teacher Education
  1. The student is in the College of Education at NAU.
  2. The student is maintaining a GPA of 2.5.
  3. The student needs financial help to fulfill student teaching requirements.
22. Janice M. Schnorr Special Education Scholarship
  1. Junior, senior, or graduate student majoring in Special Education.
  2. Preference will be given to a student who has a GPA of 3.0 or above.
  3. Preference given to student with financial need as determined through the Office of Financial Aid.
23. Patricia V. Duke Thomas Special Education Scholarship
  1. Students must be majoring in Special Education.
  2. Preference will be given, but is not limited, to undergraduate students.
  3. Students may apply for continuation of this scholarship as long as they continue to meet the eligibility award criteria.
24. Alvin and Agnes Tidwell Memorial Scholarship
  1. Admitted into Teacher Education Program.
  2. Elementary Education major.
  3. Financial need as determined through the Office of Financial Aid.
