Petition to Transfer Credit

For a graduate program of 30 credit hours (such as the MEd in Ed Tech), you may transfer a maximum of 7.5 hours from previous graduate level coursework taken in the last six years, and they must be reviewed and approved by the coordinator, the department chair, and the Graduate College. Given that all of our courses are 3 credit-hours, you may transfer a maximum of two 3 credit-hour courses.

For a graduate program of 15 credit hours (such as the Certificate in Educational Technologies), you may petition to transfer only three credit hours. The same review approval rules apply as above.

You may download a copy of the Petition to Transfer Credit form from the Graduate College.

Transfer of credits is not an automatic process. Requests are reviewed carefully by the program coordinator, the department chair, and the Graduate College.

What to include with your petition

Transfers of credit may be used as substitutes for the core courses in this program (Educational Research, Curriculum, Foundations) if they were taken as part of a completed master’s degree and are approved by the specific department. Please supply a course syllabus and official transcripts where the course is listed along with your petition.

Only six hours of Northern Arizona University core courses from a completed master’s degree may be used without time limit.

Transferring ASSET courses

Due to the strict standards and procedures that need to be met to earn national recognition through NCATE/ISTE, students admitted into the program from fall 2007 on will not be able to transfer any courses to substitute Educational Technology.
