Graduate Admissions for Certification Programs
You must meet specific admissions requirements for these degree programs.
MEd in Special Education with Certification
You can pursue options in cross-categorical special education or low
incidence/severe disabilities with this degree.
View requirements- Admission to the NAU Graduate College
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited
institution
- GPA of 3.0 – full admittance
- GPA below 3.0 – provisional admittance with
allowance to achieve 3.0 in graduate-level work with first nine (9) credit
hours
- English Composition course(s) (English 101
& 102, NAU ENG 105, or equivalent English Composition/Writing course) with
minimum GPA of 3.0
- A math course equivalent to or higher than
College Algebra or NAU MAT 114 with
minimum grade of C
- Laboratory Science course with minimum grade
of C
- ETC
545 or a one-credit educational technology course (ETC XXX)
- Application /Admission to MEd Elementary
with Certification Teacher Education Program
- Completed Recommendation Form (included in
application)
- IVP Arizona Fingerprint Clearance card
MEd in Secondary Education with Certification
View requirements- Admission to the NAU Graduate College
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited
institution
- GPA of 3.0 – full admittance
- GPA below 3.0 – provisional admittance with
allowance to achieve 3.0 in graduate-level work with first nine (9) credit
hours

View requirements- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution
- GPA of 3.0 – full admittance
- GPA below 3.0 – conditional admittance based on
one of the following:
- undergraduate GPA of 3.0 in final 60 credits of
Bachelor’s degree
- GPA of 3.0 or higher in prior graduate work
- completion of
nine (9) approved hours from NAU with GPA of 3.0 or higher and no grade
lower than a ‘B’
- English Composition course(s) (English 101 &
102, NAU ENG 105, or equivalent English Composition/Writing course) with
minimum GPA of 3.0
- College Algebra or equivalent mathematics course(s)
with minimum GPA of 2.0
- Laboratory Science course with cumulative GPA of
2.0
- Admittance to the NAU Graduate College (separate
application)
- Completed Recommendation Form (included in
application)
- Current IVP Fingerprint Clearance card
