Flagstaff Flash Mob

OBR Flash Mob

A small core of individuals joined in rehearsals for several weeks in late January and early February to learn the Break the Chain dance.   Some of these individuals were Flagstaff public school teachers.   Knowing their students would be unable to attend the February 14th event on campus, the group decided to seek an opportunity to flash mob the dance in downtown Flagstaff.   The organizers of the Flagstaff Dew Downtown invited the group to be part of their event on Saturday, February 9, 2013.  We didn’t break any rules, but we were able to create a time and place where younger participants could join in the global community.   We used this opportunity to also advertise the community performance of The Vagina Monologues that night put on by Victim Witness and the NAU performances of the monologues that took place on the 14th and 16th.  While both of these groups had wanted to have a One Billion Rising presence in Flagstaff, given their longtime commitment to The Vagina Monologues, they did not have time or resources to pull something together.  They were grateful that others stepped up to hold a One Billion Rising event that they could simply support and attend.
