Accelerated BSN Program Requirements

Pre-professional requirements

You must take the following 27 hours of prerequisite courses, or equivalents, before being admitted to the Accelerated BSN Program:

  • BIO 201, 202, 205, and 320 (15 hours)
  • PSY 101 and 240 (6 hours)
  • NTS 256 or NTS 135 (3 hours)
  • STA 270 or PSY 230 (3-4 hours)

Note: All prerequisite courses not taken at NAU need to be approved. Course descriptions and/or course syllabi must be provided to the curriculum committee for approval.

Professional curriculum requirements

After meeting the pre-professional requirements and being admitted to the nursing program, you will take 52 hours of sequenced nursing courses over three semesters (12 months):

Semester I (Summer) 17credit hours

  • NUR 330  Nursing as a Discipline and Profession (3 credit hours)
  • NUR 331  Applied Pharmacology and Pathophysiology (4 credit hours)
  • NUR 333 Communication and Mental Health Nursing (3 credit hours)
  • NUR 333L Communication and Mental Health Nursing Lab (2 credit hours)
  • NUR 336 Foundations of Nursing Practice (3 credit hours)
  • NUR 336L Foundations of Nursing Practice Lab (2 credit hours)

Semester II (Fall) 17 credit hours

  • NUR 334 Adult Health Nursing (8 credit hours)
  • NUR 334L Adult Health Nursing Lab (6 credit hours)
  • NUR 340 Evidence-Based Practice and Nursing Research (3 credit hours)  

Semester III (Spring) 18 credit hours
