Health Policy Roundtable

On April 29, 2011, 22 of Arizona’s most important health care leaders met at the historic Colton House in Flagstaff to engage in an afternoon of far-reaching policy discussions.

Dr. Paul Dutton, IHPI’s executive director facilitated the meeting based on an Aspen Institute Seminar format.

“I think we succeeded at creating a convergent dialog on several issues. Of course, people disagreed. That’s to be expected. But by focusing on values and interests instead of well-worn positions we identified policy approaches to which most participants could agree,” said Dutton.

First Annual IHPI Fellow Research Collaboration Retreat

Senior Scientist Priscilla Sanderson organizes this gathering of IHPI Fellows. The goal of this retreat is to introduce IHPI fellows to each other and facilitate discussion of research interests and the potential for interdisciplinary collaboration through the Institute.

A Conversation on Health Care Reform

Every fall IHPI organizes a public education event.

Past year’s discussions have included a forum on health care reform on the Northern Arizona University campus. Paul Dutton, the Institute’s Executive Director, moderated a panel that included Eric Henley, MD at North Country Healthcare, Douglas Paget, MD at WL Gore & Associates, Kim Van Pelt, MA at St. Luke’s Health Initiatives, and Jacqueline Vaughn, PhD for Northern Arizona University’s Politics and International Affairs.

The event included a lively exchange among the panelists and approximately 250 students, health care providers, university faculty, and community members.
