Sonya Pedersen joined the NAU Health Sciences Department in the spring of 2014, with an emphasis in the Health Science major. Prior to NAU, she was the Strategic National Stockpile Coordinator for the State of Oregon. Sonya earned her Master's Degree in Public Health at New Mexico State University, with a research focus on bioterrorism. She also holds a BA in Anthropology and a BA in History from New Mexico State University. Sonya has taught college for 14 years as well as worked for state and local governments in the fields of environmental health, public health, and emergency management.
Primary Teaching Area in the Department: Public Health
Research Interests: Emergency management / community disaster response and bioterrorism.
