Dr. Mary
Towle Harmon received her PhD in Speech and Hearing Sciences from Arizona State
University in 2009. She has worked as a Speech Language Pathologist in
school-based settings, private practices and university clinics since 1996. Her
background includes working with culturally and linguistically diverse students
and preschoolers at-risk for later reading difficulties. She has developed and
implemented several language and literacy programs. Dr. Harmon’s current research interests include the
emergent literacy skills of at-risk preschoolers, the benefits of electronic
interface when collecting language samples from preschoolers, and
intergenerational projects for school-age children and older adults.
