Associate Head Athletic Trainer

Sarah Shute was promoted to associate head athletic trainer in October of 2013, after serving as an assistant athletic trainer at Northern Arizona University since 2010. Shute began working with NAU as a graduate assistant in the fall of 2008. She assists with the day-to-day operations of the athletic training operation and works primarily with the men’s basketball team.
Shute served two seasons as a graduate assistant in athletic training, working with women’s soccer and volleyball teams. As Assistant Athletic Trainer she worked primarily with the Lumberjack volleyball program and coordinated care and treatment for the spring football seasons in 2010-2012.
Born and raised in Wisconsin, she also attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh where she earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Athletic Training where she worked with eight different varsity sports including baseball and football in her last two semesters on campus. She also earned her Master’s of Education in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University in 2010.
She holds her certification in Athletic Training from the National Board of Certification and is licensed to practice in the state of Arizona. She also acts as a clinical preceptor for the students of NAU’s Athletic Training Education Program.
