FACULTY AWARDS...
Whitham Elected AAAS Fellow
Tom Whitham, Regents’ Professor of Biological Sciences, was elected as a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). Fellows are recognized by their peers for meritorious efforts to advance science or its applications. Professor Whitham has published 200 papers including in some of the most prestigious referred journals in the world such as Nature and Science.
Professor Whitham and his coworkers recently received $3M from the National Science Foundation to establish the Southwestern Experimental Garden Array (SEGA) which will integrate genetics and climate change research.
Professor Whitham was inducted at the Fellows Forum held on February 18, 2012 during the AAAS Annual Meeting in Vancouver, British Columbia. New Fellows received a certificate and a blue and gold rosette as a symbol of their distinguished accomplishments.
