Wildlife Research Technician positions

We need four research technicians for a project studying small mammal populations in high elevation wet meadows located in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest in the White Mountains of northeastern Arizona. Work for this position will involve trapping small mammals with Sherman, Tomahawk, and pitfall traps, processing animals, and measuring vegetation and other environmental variables.

Field work will occur from late June to early August for approximately 4-5 weeks.  Technicians will be camping while out in the field for approximately 4-5 days at a time.  Office duties may include data entry, maintenance of sampling gear, and travel preparations.

Applicants should be motivated, have the ability to work independently and with others, be able to hike with heavy equipment in rough terrain, and under adverse weather conditions.  The ideal candidate will have trapping experience with small mammals, familiarity with fauna and flora of the region, and the ability to navigate to sampling locations using map, compass, and a GPS.
