EducationEver since I was a child, I had always dreamed and fantasized about the idea of becoming a doctor. Every child had that dream, but I continued to strive and plan for that dream as I grew up. I graduated from Coconino High School here in Flagstaff, and chose to stay here and attend Northern Arizona University. I chose the chemistry major in hopes of just doing well on the MCAT, but little did I realize how much I would come to love and enjoy what the chemistry discipline holds.
I plan to further my education after I graduate, with hopes of being accepted to a medical school or any other health professional school. I enjoy being around kids, so I do hope for the opportunity to work with them in the future.
The project I am working on will be complete and finished by the time I graduate. I intend to apply to a health professional school after I graduate. Ultimately, I aim to help to improve health care out on the reservation.
Other information about me
In addition, to being in college and doing research, I am a Flagstaff resident who grew up in this beautiful town. I come from a Navajo family, which includes my mother, father, sister, brother, and new 5 month old son. My family is my inspiration to every positive choice I have made up to this point in my life. I have my mother to thank for inspiring me to pursue the medical field, as well as inspiring me to be all that I can be. I have my father to thank for always pushing me to strive to be more than I think I can be. I have my siblings to thank because they are my world and I have more of a reason to do what I need to, so I can be the best role model they can possibly have. Lastly, I have my son to thank because he has given me reason and purpose in my life to accomplish my goals for him. My decision to attend NAU did not only come from the fact I grew up in Flagstaff, but I also spent a part of my childhood on NAU campus.
I enjoy playing volleyball and spending time with my family when I can. I have had volunteer experience at North Country Health Care Center, and plan to continue volunteer work in the future. My research interests do not only apply to people, but I also love animals as well. If I can help people and animals at the same time, I will feel like I made a huge contribution.
