Graduate Student Organization

The Environmental Science and Policy Graduate Student Organization (ES&P GSO) is a student-run social organization made up of the ES&P graduate students. Our goal is to connect current students, alumni, and community members in the Northern Arizona area. We also strive to be a support network for each other as we navigate the sometimes-murky waters of grad school.

Over the course of the school year, the ES&P GSO puts on a number of activities and events. We have an annual camping trip in August to welcome new graduate students, which often takes place along the stunning North Rim of the Grand Canyon. We regularly host potlucks and spread the word about upcoming funding for grad students, conferences, faculty meeting updates, and volunteer opportunities. We have adopted a section of the local Flagstaff Urban Trail System and do trash pick-up on this trail a few times each  semester. Often these volunteer events involve working with Kinlani for Community, a community service organization comprised of high school students who live in the Kinlani Dormitories here in Flagstaff. NAU ES&P graduate students have volunteered with Kinlani students since 2011 and have even participated on Grand Canyon Youth river rafting trips with Kinlani students.
