Undergraduate Research Opportunities
Northern Arizona University promotes undergraduate research across campus in a variety of ways. It is a member of the Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) and through programs such as its Hooper Undergraduate Research Award (HURA) provides funding opportunities for undergraduates to carry out research.
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics has been a national leader in undergraduate research through its summer Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program, one of the first such programs west of the Mississippi, funded by the National Science Foundation since 1994. Participation in the REU program is very competitive and limited to just a few students each year. Research opportunities exist more broadly throughout the academic year.
