For general use, the School supports student x86/x64 computer
labs running Microsoft Windows operating systems. This support is both financial
and technical.
For state funded faculty and staff, the School supports
(financial and technical) a standard desktop x86/x64 computer running Microsoft
Windows operating systems; for other faculty and staff, the School supports
(technical) an x86/x64 computer running Microsoft Windows operating systems.
Faculty may use computers other than x86/x64/Microsoft Windows
systems for individual use, but the purchase of these must come from funds in
their research contracts and the responsibility for support will not be assumed
by the School. This policy is not intended to restrict these faculty from going
to School support personnel for assistance. The support for these systems,
however, may ultimately need to come from NAU Information Technology Services (ITS) or other sources.
The above policies are in place due to limited support staff
time allocated specifically to hardware and operating system support.
