Multicultural engineering program
1994, the Multicultural Engineering Program (MEP) offers a
variety of programs designed to increase and enhance the academic performance
of all of our declared engineering majors.
The MEP is one
means of addressing the critical issue of support, retention, and graduation of
students in undergraduate engineering programs and helping them make
connections to the industry workforce.

NACME Scholarship for 2014-2015
The NACME Scholarship assists underrepresented populations and is a renewable award for eligible students. Check back in February 2015 for scholarships in the coming semester.

Some of the services offered for the 2014-2015 academic year include:
- Academic support and progress meetings (see below for more
- Tutoring for individuals and groups; tutoring on an
individual and/or group level for EGR-related classes, including eligibility
for master schedule for tutoring at Student Learning Centers (with referral)
- Study lounge dedicated to MEP students (Engineering
building, room 107)
- Calculator Loan Program
- Monthly newsletter featuring current opportunities for
scholarships, internships, jobs and other items of interest
- Basic faxing and copying access
- Grade Monitoring via GPS and faculty comments
- Assistance with letters of recommendation (from the MEP or
your draft of a letter, usually what is expected when you ask a professor for a

logistics and networking with the university and industry
- Referrals for scholarship assistance, scholarship searches,
scholarship applications, and financial aid

-This is a great opportunity to ‘check in’ and have a
safe space for listening. You and I will meet with an agreed-upon
frequency (for example, every week or two weeks depending on your need) to talk
about your classes, assignments, strategies for success, and other issues that
influence your academic success.

class, please contact me. We can help you make appointments at the Student
Learning Centers. We can also work with your professors to find a tutor
for you. The tutor can help you understand topic concepts and prepare for
MEP student lounge:
Study Lounge-Located in 107, the spacious MEP Study Lounge has
computers, a printer, refrigerator, microwave, coffee (you must make it), a
large white board, conference table and chairs. When you enter, just sign in. We track the number of students that use MEP services and use this information to request
funding for your student services. You will also get free printing within
a few days of completing the membership registration (once your user ID has
been added to the permissions).
The following equipment can be found in the lounge for student use:

- laser printer (MEP membership required)
- small refrigerator
- coffee maker
- telephone for local calls only
- hole punchers
- plastic utensils
- scrap paper
