Orchestra  

The Academy Orchestra is open to musicians in grades 8-12 who are active members of their school’s music program (unless the student is homeschooled or does not have a school music ensemble).

The Academy Orchestra provides a high quality ensemble experience for musicians throughout the Northern Arizona region. Under the baton of Jon Eder, the orchestra performs from the finest classical symphonic repertoire and provides an opportunity for exposure to new music and collaboration with fellow musicians from around the Northern Arizona region.

The NAU Community Music and Dance Academy is eager to expand the scope and involvement within the community of the Academy Orchestra through a number of different avenues. Anticipated run-out concerts throughout the community as well as collaborations with other local arts groups and personal interaction with highly qualified NAU School of Music faculty members will all become incorporated facets of the Academy Orchestra experience.

Placement within the ensemble is based on an audition that will take place at the beginning of each academic year or by appointment. The Orchestra rehearses on Monday evenings from 6:30-8:30pm at Flagstaff High School in the Band and Orchestra room.
