Body Mapping
Do you have pain when you play? Would you like to
be a more efficient performer?
Body mapping is a unique tool for performers which
addresses both of these situations. In body mapping, you use self-observation
and self-inquiry to gain access to the body map. By carefully examining what you
believe to be true about your body and comparing it to accurate information, you
can learn to be more efficient.
Through body mapping, you will learn to recognize
inefficient and harmful movement and replace it with movement that is
well-organized and cooperates with the reality of how you are actually built.
This day-long course is based upon the book by
Barbara Conable called “What Every Musician Needs to Know About the Body” and
will be taught by David Vining, trombone and euphonium professor at Northern
Arizona University.
