Tim Smith is a professor of music theory and the immediate past editor of the Journal of Music Theory Pedagogy. From 2010-2014 he led a collaboration between NAU, the Oregon Bach Festival, the Hinkle Charitable Foundation and other partners in the development of new media devoted to the legacy of J. S. Bach. These included websites on the Mass in B Minor, Goldberg Variations, St. Matthew Passion, and Well-Tempered Clavier. In 2003 he and David Korevaar (University of Colorado, Boulder) won MERLOT's Editor's Choice award for the Fugues of the Well-Tempered Clavier. In 2014 he and Helmuth Rilling won MERLOT’s Classics award for Exploring JS Bach’s Mass in B Minor.
