2013 Jazz Madrigal Festival
The annual Northern Arizona University Vocal Jazz Madrigal Festival, one of the largest festivals of its kind in the Southwestern United States, features special guest clinicians and over 140 high school ensembles from Arizona and nearby states. The two-day festival includes a host concert in which choirs from NAU and professional groups of national and international stature appear.
This event will be held on the NAU campus in Flagstaff on Friday, February 8 and Saturday, February 9, 2013. Ensembles of all ability levels are invited to participate.
We are pleased to announce the following Madrigal clinicians: Dr. Jonathan Talberg, Long Beach State College; Dr. Amanda Quist, Westminster Choir College; and Dr. Ronald Staheli, Brigham Young University. Vocal Jazz clinicians will be Christine Guter, Paris Rutherford, and Marcus Denton, Chandler-Gilbert Community College.
We are excited to announce that Voces8 will be the guest ensemble for this year’s festival! Please visit their website for more information. Tickets for the evening guest ensemble concert will go on sale Thursday, November 1, 2012 at the NAU Central Ticket Office.
COST - $190.00 for each jazz and/or madrigal ensemble. Initially, we will accept only ONE ensemble per director per school. Second ensembles will be accepted only after all applicants have been given the opportunity to schedule their first ensemble. Available slots will be assigned to second ensembles after the October 22-October 26 registration time period. Entry fee is due by Friday, December 14th. If the entry fee is not received by December14, 2012, reserved times will be given to the first school on the waiting list and your school will be moved to the bottom of the waiting list. Please note that this will be strictly enforced due to the high demand for festival slots.
