Julianne Layton was born in Flagstaff, Arizona and began her percussive studies at ten years of age. Currently, Julianne is pursuing her performance certificate at Northern Arizona University with Dr. Steven Hemphill where she also recently obtained her undergraduate degree. She has served as president of both the NAU Percussion Society and the Delta Eta chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota women's fraternity. In addition to teaching privately, Julianne is founder and co-instructor of Percussion Discovery through the NAU Community Music and Dance Academy. She also performs with the NAU Panorama Steel Pan Ensemble and the traditional Celtic band, The Knockabouts.
