Hello Lumberjacks!
Band Camp 2011 is right around the corner, and we’re looking forward to your participation in the NAU marching band this season! The members of Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma (the band’s service Fraternity and Sorority) have been working through the summer to plan events and activities to get this marching season off to a great start! This letter is to inform you of some important pre-band camp information.
First and foremost: Registration will take place at the beginning of band camp, immediately following the orientation meeting, on August 25th, 2011. At this time, you will pay for instrument and locker rentals (lockers are located in the school of music; non music majors are not encouraged to rent lockers due to the school of music’s proximity to the Skydome) as well as purchasing uniform accessories and supplies for your instrument. Additionally, the 2011 marching band Dave Matthews Band halftime show shirt will be available for purchase, and we will also be taking orders for band parent shirts. If you need to purchase any of these accessories, you will need to bring money to registration. Credit cards cannot be accepted; cash or checks are acceptable forms of payment.
Costs:
Black Marching Shoes- $25
Gloves- $2.50 per pair
Flip Folder and Lyre- $15
(Keep in mind that the price can vary depending on the instrument)
Instrument Rental- $30
Locker Rental (optional)- $30/semester or $55/Year
Items you should bring to band camp:
Money for Registration
Water bottle (avoid altitude sickness)
Athletic shoes that are appropriate for marching
Sun-block
Sunglasses
Music
Comfortable clothes for marching
Instrument and all accessories
Pencils (It is required that you keep a pencil on your person in rehearsals)
Two 3x5 spiral-bound note card booklets for use as drill books—these cards MUST be bound together
Shoelace or string for the note cards
Band camp is a great time to get to know your fellow band members, so we’ve planned some evening activities and section competitions. We ask that you enjoy each of these activities, but that you don’t allow them to distract you from rehearsing to the best of your abilities at all times!
