Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where can I park on campus?

A: Day passes are available at kiosks ($7/day) throughout campus and the parking garage on the corner of Knoles and Riordan is available at $2/hour. Non-affiliate permits are available for sale to Academy families directly through the Academy Office for $75/semester. This pass will allow you to park any day at any time in the North Commuter lots—primarily P13 and P13B. These lots are ticketed until 4:30pm on weekdays.

Q: What if I missed a dance class?

A: Classes missed due to illness, holidays, or snow days may be made up in any class above or below your regular grade level.

Q: Where can I obtain tickets for upcoming ticketed performances?

A: Tickets can be purchased at the Central Ticket Office located in the student union.

Q: Where can I purchase dance attire?

A: Dance attire can be purchased online through various providers—we recommend Discount Dance for most apparel. RAD regulation leotards can be purchased online through FREED of London. Additional dance dress code information can be found here.

Q: Where can I obtain an instrument?

A: The NAU Community Music and Dance Academy and NAU School of Music do not provide instruments. Instruments are available through local retailers such as Arizona Music Pro.

Q: When do I meet for my private lesson?

A: Lessons are scheduled with your private instructor.

Q: What if I can’t make a scheduled lesson?

A: Please notify your instructor as soon as possible. One free make-up lesson is allowed each semester. Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours notice or skipped entirely will be considered forfeited and will not be rescheduled.

Q: Where are lessons held?

A: Lessons are held in practice rooms and studios in the Performance and Fine Arts Building (Bldg. 37) or in the Ponderosa Building (Bldg. 92) on the NAU campus.

Q: How do I pay for instruction?

A: The Academy accepts checks, money order, or credit/debit card payments (American Express, VISA, Master Card, or Discover--all which can be taken over the phone). Checks can be made out to "NAU Academy". We discourage cash but ask that if you choose to pay this way that you provide exact change.
