Dr. Nancy G. Barron is a full Professor in the Department of English. Her research focuses on interdisciplinary writing, cross-cultural literacy, and technical and scientific writing. She began working with student writing in a professional setting in 1984 and, in addition to teaching written communication skills, she has worked for 16 consecutive years in Learning Centers and University Writing Centers at California State University, Los Angeles, and Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan. She has worked closely with students on technical and scientific writing, developmental writing, thesis development, and dissertation outlines and chapter drafts, and she has worked with faculty from different disciplines to refine their writing for publications. Barron teaches in the Rhetoric and Writing program at NAU where she focuses specifically on transforming theory into practice in students’ writing projects.
