Chris Zapata, ’82 BS, (right) is the new city manager of San Leandro, CA.
He was previously the city manager in National City in San Diego County for the
last seven years. Chris has been in public service for 25 years, including time

Jessica Rice Boden, ’95 MA, is now president of StoneArch
Creative, one of the country’s leading medical device advertising agencies.
Boden was previously Executive Creative Director at the agency. Boden’s
experience includes agencies in California and a Minneapolis-based medical
device company. “I am honored to take on
this new responsibility. I am completely confident our team of remarkable and
talented people will continue to explore new and innovative ways to support our
clients’ successes,” said Boden.
Linda Hulten, ’95 BS, ’98 MED and NAU retiree, has come home to
Arizona. Linda moved to Tucson from Seattle where she was working as the AVP
for Advancement Services at Seattle University, to be near her son, Erik, ’93
BS. “We plan to spend our winters in Tucson to be near our son and his
family. We will travel to Seattle in the summer to be near our daughter and her
family,” Linda tells us. Sounds like the good life, Linda!

Chuck
Tomanek, ’02 BS, has been promoted to director of solution engineering at Sundog in Fargo, ND. He’s been with Sundog since 2006 where he has served as a
release manager and a senior systems analyst.
You’ve
probably seen Adam Harper, ’04 BS, (right) all over the place – TV, magazines,
billboards. That’s because he’s the new national spokesperson for Macaroni
Grill restaurants. Here he is in one of the billboard ads:

Ulrike, ’04 BA, and husband Russell Johnson are happy to announce
the birth of their son Klaus Roswell Johnson on June 11, 2011. He was 6lbs 8oz
and 20.25 inches long. They told us “Maybe in 18 years Klaus will go to NAU as
well. You never know! We are thrilled and could not be happier!”
Kim Lincoln, ’07 BFA, (right) has been named by the Arizona Art Education
Association as Outstanding Secondary Art Teacher of the Year. Lincoln teaches
introductory and advanced placement art classes at Millennium High School in
the Agua Fria High School District. While at NAU, Lincoln was named National
Outstanding Higher Education Student of the Year by the National Art Education
Association.
Nancy
Gardner, ’07 MED, (right) is now Camp Verde's new town marshal. Previously, Gardner was
a lieutenant and division commander with the Avondale Police Department. Before
that she was an officer, detective, sergeant and lieutenant for the Gilbert
Police Department from 1991 to 2007. Read more.
Anthony D. Esparza, ’08 BS (left), is now assistant general manager at Fiamma
Trattoria and Bar at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas Nevada. Previously, he was
General Manager of Lounges at the MGM overseeing all aspects of a $15 million
beverage/bar operation. Anthony has over 12 years of hospitality and customer
service experience. Before the MGM, he worked for Fairmont Hotels and Resorts
in Scottsdale for 10 years. Anthony has also completed his level one sommelier certification, has been certified as a "diversity champion and diversity coach for MGM Resorts International," and is a member of the
Society of Wine Educators.
Dana
Flower, ’09 BS, is marketing
manager for a luxury private island resort in San Diego, handling
their advertising, PR, marketing, graphic design, social media, and more. Dana
also mailed us her graduation robe in hopes of starting a robe recycling
program on campus. We love that idea!
